African American Women's History

This link will take you to a page dedicated to uncovering the history of African American women: the history of black women in America, from slavery through Reconstruction, Harlem Renaissance and civil rights. Biographies, organizations, events and movements.

Example:
Rosa Parks (1913-2005)
Rosa Parks is known as the woman who, in December 1955, refused to give up her seat to a white man. Rosa Parks was arrested, and this arrest triggered the Montgomery bus boycott and ignited the American civil rights movement.

Rosa Parks Quote:
I would like to be known as a person who is concerned about freedom and equality and justice and prosperity for all people.
